We are far, here, from the classic conception of the musical as a story around a passionate couple in which the woman, as an image offered for consumption, progressively adapts to the culture values of the man: within the family environment of the short film an already troubled relationship between two brothers is complicated by the entry of the younger sister into college. The expectations of the patriarchal society that influences the relationship between these characters are highlighted by the well-marked decoupage of a family lunch table and are opposed to the agile rhythm of the songs and the camera movements in the musical numbers, which makes family tensions explode in the film form and social. It is precisely in the central number of the short film that we have an exchange of roles, which takes the focus away from the brother's experience and puts the female character in the spotlight. Here, the film defends the university as a place of female empowerment, due to the range of learning possibilities it offers and the sharing of diverse experiences that it offers. As the last number show us, nothing better than a musical - a genre in which the sense of belonging and common interests can be expressed in the composition of musical numbers with chorus bodies - to express the importance of the community relationship that this public space provides.
