Akapot Pot: Directed by Tisha Mukherjee, Paramanu Sarkar. 'Akapot' in Bengali literally translates to straightforward or genuine. 'Pot' is nothing but 'Patachitra'. Together 'Akapot Pot' refers to the unfeigned, earnest nature of this ancient art form. Raghurajpur heritage village in Puri district Odisha is one of a kind known for 'Patachitra' painting. The tradition of 'Pata' dates back to the 5th century B.C. The village is also known for being the birthplace of famous Odhisi dance form guru Kelucharan Mahapatra. This documentary is all about a visit to this extraordinary hamlet of art and culture. It focuses on the artworks as well as the day to day hardships faced by the 140 families of artisans trying to make a living out of it. This small documentary also features interviews by the craftsmen stating the evolution of this ancient art form and the difficulty they deal with everyday.
