A Good Guy with A Gun: Directed by Vareila Mairanga. Using video footage filmed in Las Vegas in 2015, Vareila Mairanga undertakes the challenging process of revisiting the memories of that trip, seeking to deconstruct and understand them with new eyes. In the course of this quest, she explores the tension between the immediacy of the past and the hindsight of the present. Memory becomes a playground as she seeks to revive emotions that have faded with time. The short film gradually takes us back to a 'harmless' shooting session that nonetheless left a deep impression. The exploration of the archive becomes an intimate exploration of the self and is overlaid with current thoughts, creating a dialogue between the person who experienced the shooting session and the person who is now asking questions.
